Special Pharmaceutical Benefits Program

The Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS)
wants qualified persons to be aware and make use of the Special
Pharmaceutical Benefits Program (SPBP) for Mental Health. SPBP funds
are available to assist persons with a diagnosis of schizophrenia
with certain medications for individuals who are not eligible for
Medical Assistance and have income of $30,000 or less. Covered medications
include Abilify, Clozaril, Clozapine, Geodon, Risperdal, Seroquel,
and Zyprexa. SPBP can pay Medicare premiums, co-payments, and deductibles
for these covered medications. Benefits can usually be available
within one week of receiving a completed application. The application
form and additional materials are available on the SPBP web site
